American Freight filed a WARN notice announcing a permanent mass layoff affecting 19 executive-level employees at its Delaware, Ohio headquarters, effective by May 1, 2025. American Freight Group, LLC announced it will institute a mass layoff at its corporate headquarters in Delaware, Ohio, as part of parent company Franchise Group's Chapter 11 restructuring and planned wind-down of the American Freight brand. A WARN notice received Dec. 2 states the entire corporate workforce at 109 Innovation Court will be laid off no later than Feb. 3, 2025, and the layoffs are expected to be permanent. The notice specifies the mass layoff will affect 62 corporate employees. Franchise Group cited poor financial performance and broader macroeconomic challenges in the large durable goods sector as reasons for winding down operations and initiating store closing sales. The planned HQ closure and layoffs are part of FRG's ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy process filed Nov. 3, 2024.
