14 EVENTSBattelle filed a notice with Colorado authorities reporting planned workforce reductions at the Pueblo Chemical Depot site tied to decommissioning work. Battelle currently employs 239 people at the site and reported that, beginning March 17, one worker would be laid off in March and another 231 workers would be laid off by the fourth quarter of 2026, for a total of 232 planned layoffs. The reductions are part of closure activities following destruction of the chemical stockpile and the winding down of decontamination and decommissioning work, with physical fieldwork expected to complete in 2026 and administrative closeout extending beyond. The notice specified affected workers range in age from 18 to 75 and was submitted as a WARN/layoff notification to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment on Jan. 16.
