Layoff timeline
1 EVENTProspect Medical Holdings announced it will begin winding down operations across the Crozer Health system, with Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital ceasing emergency department intake as of 8:00 a.m. on April 23, 2025 and full closure expected within 30 days. Employees were told they will receive WARN Act notices notifying them of a mass layoff or shutdown. A text obtained by the Daily Times indicated specific planned terminations: 1,908 employees at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, 351 at Taylor Hospital, 45 at CCMC behavioral health, 88 at Crozer’s corporate offices, 126 at Springfield Hospital, 53 at the Springfield offices and 80 at two other office locations (totaling 2,551). The closures follow Prospect’s bankruptcy proceedings and unsuccessful efforts by state and local officials and potential buyers to avert the shutdown; some ambulatory centers will remain open and limited service transfers/divestitures are occurring. Local officials and the attorney general criticized Prospect and said they will pursue legal and administrative responses while a call center and webpage were set up to manage the transition.
