Clayton Homes filed a WARN notice that its Heibar Installation subsidiary is shutting down the Heibar Colorado manufacturing plant at 475 W. 53rd Place in unincorporated Adams County. The closure will result in 74 manufacturing workers losing their jobs by the end of January, and the company said the layoffs in the manufacturing department will be permanent with no bumping or transfer rights, though employees may apply at other locations. The plant was a key supplier to Oakwood Homes and received state incentive funding; Heibar declined to give a reason for the closure and shipping components from other plants appears uneconomical. Oakwood said the closure will not have a long-term impact on its homebuilding plans and sales remain strong, while state officials said the layoffs do not reflect the off-site construction industry as a whole.
