1 EVENTNitto, Inc. filed a WARN notice on Jan. 8 stating it will permanently close its Piqua, Ohio facility at 1620 South Main Street, resulting in the phased layoff of 147 employees between March and September. The plant, operational since 1988 and known for producing automotive parts (over one million parts per day), will transfer a small number of workers to a Nitto site in Frankfort, Kentucky. Of the 147 affected, 99 are production employees and the remainder are in engineering, operations and distribution. The layoffs are planned to take effect in phases from March through September, and local officials are coordinating Rapid Response resources and efforts to attract a new business to the site.
