Seattle Children’s Hospital announced planned workforce reductions affecting its operations in Kennewick, Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, Federal Way and remote staff. The state Employment Security Department filed a WARN notice indicating Seattle Children’s will lay off 154 staff with separations beginning Nov. 15, and the hospital will also close 350 open positions; the cuts represent about 1.5% of its workforce. The hospital said financial pressures from anticipated state and federal funding cuts are driving the decision, but affirmed the Kennewick clinic will remain open and did not disclose how many Kennewick-specific staff would be impacted.
