Waterview Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center
Layoff timeline
1 EVENTWaterview Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rochester, N.Y., is closing and will lay off 216 workers, according to a WARN notice posted by the state Department of Labor. The facility is being forced to close after inspectors found conditions that put residents at risk. The state's original closure deadline was Sept. 24 but was extended multiple times to allow all residents — more than 160 in August — to be relocated; residents have now been moved, largely to Lilac Manor on North Goodman Street. The closure and layoffs are the direct result of the cited unsafe conditions and regulatory actions by inspectors.
