Electrolux and MasterBrand Announce Workforce Reductions

On October 5–6, 2026, multiple employers in the Consumer Discretionary sector reported a series of workforce reductions and WARN notices affecting a combined 1,933 employees, according to the supplied filings and public reports.

Electrolux — 1,250 jobs

Electrolux reported a restructuring affecting its Italian operations that unions said would reduce planned job cuts and rely on voluntary departures and temporary layoff schemes over three years, with an estimated 1,250 positions impacted (approximately 650 production workers and 600 office employees), per reporting by the Ukrainian National News (УКРАЇНСЬКІ НАЦІОНАЛЬНІ НОВИНИ (УНН)) and The Anderson Observer. The company said it may seek a buyer for its Cerreto d’Esi kitchen hood plant and will continue production there until a possible sale, with further talks to be held by the Industry Ministry, the reports said.

MasterBrand Cabinets LLC — 391 jobs

MasterBrand Cabinets LLC disclosed in a WARN notice notified to the North Carolina Department of Commerce that it will permanently lay off 391 employees at its Kinston, North Carolina, plant as it ends Value Semi-Custom/non-frameless cabinet operations and converts the site to focus on frameless cabinetry and components. The company notified state officials on Sept. 28 and set the permanent layoff date for Nov. 27, according to reports by WBTV, AOL.com and Kinston.com. The filing and company statements say about 180 employees will remain at the facility to support UltraCraft frameless manufacturing, and non-frameless production will move to MasterBrand sites in Indiana, Illinois and Oregon. MasterBrand attributed the change to a manufacturing network assessment tied to its $3.6 billion merger with American Woodmark and said it will provide severance, outplacement support and internal relocation opportunities, per those reports.

Packaging Corporation of America — 91 jobs

Packaging Corporation of America reported plans to close its full-line corrugated converting plant in Middletown, Ohio, with most layoffs scheduled for Dec. 1 and the site closing by Dec. 31. The move will affect all 91 employees at the Middletown facility as operations are consolidated into larger sites, including a new Newark, Ohio plant, according to Dayton247Now, WDTN and Yahoo Finance.

WARN filings — Jack in the Box, Grunt Style, Pep Boys

A WARN filing with state regulators listed Jack in the Box as planning to cut 15 employees. Separate WARN notices recorded Grunt Style, LLC at 9 employees and Grunt Style LLC (Norfolk Premium Outlet Retail Store) at 8 employees in Norfolk, Virginia, both with layoff dates around Nov. 30. A WARN filing also identified Pep Boys Manny Moe & Jack, LLC with 169 affected workers. These facts are taken from the respective WARN filings supplied.
