Flock and Oakland City University Among Employers Announcing Cuts; WARN Filings Show Additional Reductions

A mix of private firms and institutions reported layoffs Oct. 9–10, including Flock and Oakland City University, with WARN filings showing further reductions.

Flock and Oakland City University were among employers with documented workforce reductions in reports compiled for the Oct. 9–10 period, with additional cuts disclosed in WARN filings, according to media coverage and government notices.

Flock disclosed plans affecting 270 employees, TechCrunch, Devdiscourse and mezha.net reported. The outlets said the Atlanta-based maker of AI-powered surveillance cameras and license-plate readers expects roughly 270 employees to leave following a voluntary buyout program. The reports described the reduction as about 18% of the company’s workforce and said it was reported before any public announcement.

In higher education, Oakland City University laid off 100 employees in Oakland City, Indiana, 14 News reported. Separate WARN filings with state regulators disclosed multiple smaller reductions.

The compiled records list a total of 626 employees affected across 6 layoff events in the Oct. 9–10 reporting window.

All figures and disclosures referenced above come from the cited media reports and WARN filings, as indicated.
