Apple cuts ~200 roles from Vision Pro, Siri and software teams

Bloomberg reporting says Apple Inc. laid off roughly 200 employees across groups working on the Vision Pro and Siri/software efforts. Approximately 100 people from the Vision Products Group focused on VR/Vision Pro work were cut, and about 100 more employees were let go from Siri and software teams, with additional Vision Pro-related staff affected across device security, audio engineering, Siri integration, testing and visionOS. Apple said it will create new roles as part of the change and will support impacted employees, while maintaining the Vision Pro product and visionOS work and continuing development of rumored future smart glasses. The cuts are tied to an internal shift under incoming CEO John Ternus, who has reportedly deprioritized some Vision Pro initiatives focused on gaming and immersive content due to disappointing sales.
