Moderna cuts about 10% of its workforce

Moderna said on 31 July 2025 that it would cut about 10% of its workforce as part of a plan to reduce annual operating expenses by $1.5 billion through 2027. Chief executive Stephane Bancel said the company expected to end 2025 with fewer than 5,000 employees, down from roughly 5,800 at the start of the year. The company attributed the reduction to falling COVID-19 vaccination rates, declining Spikevax sales and slow uptake of its RSV vaccine. Reporting did not give a single confirmed headcount for the round, so none is recorded here.
