Montrose Forest Products issues WARN notices for Montrose sawmill

Montrose Forest Products in Montrose, Colorado issued Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notices to approximately 90 employees as the company seeks a buyer for its sawmill to avoid disruption of operations. Company officials said they hope a transaction will be completed by early November to preserve jobs, and the WARN notices provide 60 days' advance warning of a potential plant closing or mass layoff while negotiations continue. The notices do not necessarily mean the mill will close, but they reflect the risk to jobs as ownership (acquired by Neiman in 2025) looks for a buyer. Montrose Forest Products is one of the largest sawmills in Colorado and a significant employer in western Colorado; affiliated businesses and regional operations under Neiman are also noted in the article.

Montrose Forest Products disclosed this layoff in an official WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice recorded by the CO state workforce agency on August 8, 2026. The notice covers 90 employees in Rural Allaince (Montrose), CO (Rural Allaince (Montrose) County), with the layoff effective September 8, 2026.
