Samsung Electronics America cuts consumer electronics jobs in New Jersey and Texas ahead of HQ move

Samsung Electronics has cut U.S. consumer electronics jobs tied to Samsung Electronics America (SEA) as it moves the unit's headquarters to Texas. Documents and sources say 739 roles in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey were affected and about 100 workers, including some in the mobile division, were let go at SEA's Plano, Texas office; a majority in New Jersey were offered relocations while others were terminated. The unit notified employees of an "enterprise-wide reduction-in-force" and LinkedIn posts show additional recent departures across sales and marketing roles. Samsung framed the moves as workforce-structure changes related to the headquarters relocation while its chip division sees booming profits amid strong AI demand, placing pressure on consumer electronics units. The company said there is no broad global restructuring underway for its consumer product business.
