Starbucks Corporation Reportedly Plans to Lay Off 224 Employees

Starbucks Corporation announced it will close about 250 stores across North America and is planning workforce reductions impacting more than 200 corporate employees as part of a $2 billion cost-reduction initiative through fiscal 2028. The company specified cuts of 120 technology positions and 104 roles in coffeehouse design and development while aiming to streamline its North American coffeehouse portfolio and focus resources on higher-performing locations. Starbucks said it will offer transfers to nearby locations and provide severance packages for affected staff, and expects approximately $150 million in employee separation expenses tied to the restructuring and $850 million in store-closure charges.
