Verizon may be preparing another round of layoffs that a Barron’s report says will be announced on Thursday, July 24, 2026, though the scale of cuts was not disclosed. The company previously laid off 13,000 employees in November and cut 121 jobs in New Jersey in May as part of CEO Dan Schulman’s plan to reduce operating expenses and reshape the business. Reports also have suggested rumors of up to 25% cuts to Verizon’s 5G enterprise team as part of larger reductions. Schulman has tied part of the cost reductions to workforce cuts and created a $20 million Reskilling and Career Transition Fund to aid departing employees. Verizon is scheduled to report Q2 2026 results on July 24, when more details may be revealed.
