Mosaic to Idle South Fort Meade Facility, Cutting Nearly 199 Jobs

The Mosaic Company announced it plans to lay off approximately 199 employees at its South Fort Meade fertilizer production facility, with the workforce reduction expected to take effect Dec. 8, 2026. The Tampa-based chemical firm said ongoing global sulfur supply constraints, rising costs and challenging market conditions have forced it to temporarily idle operations there and constitute a WARN Act mass layoff.
